power steering on 454 international gas

I have a 1973 454 gas that is hard to steer , have rebuilt steering cylinder and orbit steering motor . Does this mod have a seperate stering pump and where is the PFD valve located? thanks clydntexas

Hi,that model have only one pump. It have a flow-divider valve to allow the oil for the steering system, may be that valve is stuck. Check under the hydrolic filter, it have a large and thick plug, place a container for the oil,remove the plug, the valve should drop by itself, if not, start the engine and pull the remote lever. Replace the spool with the small end in top, the spring first.Be sure your filter is clean and the element toward the mcv. Bernard le mecano Quebec Canada
