Hi,
This morning, my IH 454 Hydro stalled several times while in the field. I inspected the glass wells below the fuel filters and saw more than just diesel! There was a layer of water and what looks like "sludge". I drained the water but cannot get rid of the "sludge" at the bottom of the well. Draining the water has not helped and the tractor still stalls several minutes after starting. I was told that I should drain and flush the fuel tank and lines and change the fuel filters. I really have no idea where to start. Hoping someone has experience with this model and get me started in the right direction!! I have tubers to plant!

Hi, easy to do that job, first put one 5 gallon container under each side of the tank.Close the fuel valves. Remove the pipe that go to the filter and the return too and the fuel transfert pipe.Loose and remove each valve under the tank and drop 1 1/2 gallon in the container for each side.Replace the valve Remove the suction side at the filter and clean with air.Replace all the pipe and bleed the filter. First off go to the IH dealer and replace the glass bowls with the new kits that have the spin on fuel filters,I did this recently and have much better performance, the glass bowl are just to delicate, and then run the fuel out of the tanks into five gallon buckets and then REMOVE the tank valves at the bottom and flush out the tanks with water and let them drain and replace with fresh diesel and all will be well.
