Dead H Update

I loosened the starter and heard a click. Tightened it back up and my H started right up again. Thanks to everyone that responded so quickly. This forum is a great resource for novice tractor owners like myself.

Thanks.

Good to know the problem is solved. A new starter drive and/or a new flywheel ring gear would prevent that from happening again, but then I have an H that will do the same as yours did, but only once every two years or so. One of these days I'm gonna fix it.

Or, if you are on the cheap side, you can dress the end of the starter drive teeth to restore the original bevel.

Yep, that would work also. Really, I have no excuse for not fixing it. I have the new drives in inventory, All I gotta do is grab one and do it.

I've never replaced a ring gear, the starter drive has always fixed the problem.

Also, ring gears can be reversed.
