No. 8 plow tires

What is the correct "front" rubber tire size for a no.8 ih plow. It had none when I bought it just rims.

The correct size is whatever fits on those rims. Tire size was optional, usually was determined by whatever USED tires the dealer could get ahold of. Generally speaking, the left, or land side, would have a 7.50 X 16, truck style tire, and the right, furrow side would use a 6.00X16 car type tire.
 
After WWII the #8 came with tire rims, no tires, because rubber was in such high demand for a few years. The dealer would have the customer bring in a couple tires (wore out car tires, mostly) and the dealer would mount them. Makes little difference what sizes go on furrow or land wheel since the adjustment handles take care of plow depth and leveling.

I have a pair of 6.00X16 tractor fronts on my #8, and it does work quite well, but I can't get quite enough adjustment from the levers to make that first, opening pass be the same depth on both bottoms. A 7.50X16 tire on the land side would provide more adjustment.

I have a 7.70x15 or 8.70x 15 (don't remember) (30 yr old sow/mud tire)on the land wheel and a 6.00x16 tractor tire on the furrow wheel. My plow works fine plowing the crown. Perhaps your lift rod is the wrong length? I found a fabricated longer rod on a plow of mine. Also, there are two holes for attaching the quadrant to the furrow axle arm (one for steel, one for rubber tires).

Redblood, everyone is correct so far. Whatever fits. I like to see at least a vintage looking tire, not a modern 16" car radial.
 
Thank you for the advice. I will go find some tires for it but atleast now I know the lh should be a little bigger than the right.
