C with 2-14 plow

My "C" has new rear tires, but does not have any weights on it. Will it pull a 2 - 14 plow in 2nd gear in light soil? Would it be able to do it in third at all? I would like to try it, but if it will not I will use my 400 instead. I would be plowing at someone elses property, and need to take the tractor that will get the job done the first time.

The C should do it if everything is just right (bean stubble) but the 400 will loaf with the work. Wheel weights would help the C a lot; and the C with a 123 cubic inch overhaul kit and wheel weights would take it pretty easy.

The only drawback to using the 400 is the extra fuel used.

I'd think third would be pushin' your luck without weights in any soil.

Thank you, I have two weeks before I need to do this plowing. I might take the weights off the 400 and put them on the C just to be sure it can do it. I know the 40 would get the job done faster though.

Things will go a lot better with some weights moved over to the C.

3rd is 5 mph, it would be pushing its luck with loaded tires AND wheel weights.
