The original subject was "Re: IH 1066 weak TA?".

Is there a way to check mcv without flowtester (e.g. just check pressure?) I have the same problem in a 1086

Yes you can test the ta pressures without a flowrater, however, it requires two gauges, one in regulated pressure and other in lube circuit and you have to follow a definete procedure which will tell you if you have leakage internally, weak pump , personality of the regulator valve etc. If you could get you hands on a service manual for the 7 and 806 , can't remember Gss number off hand, it will lead you through the procedure. Later manuals will too but I always felt the original one did the best job of explaining all the works.

Are you refering to factory service manual or the I&T manual? I have the latter for 1086 but don't recall seeing it there. Thanks

When ya use the two gauge check you MUST HAVE THE TEST SPOOL To install in that port then and only then can ya use the two gauges . one gauge in the bottom pressure reg will tell ya the system pressure And on a 1066 245-265 will work fine and nothing less then 220 I prefer the 265 BUt that is just me . If Pete and i knew what is wrong then maybe we could head ya in the wright direction better. Between Pete myself and one other guy we are the guys that fixed these tractor everyday for a living . And vary few have a flow rater I have one But i made my living fixing I H tractors at my own shop . Pete and Owen worked for dealers and the dealership spent the BIG BUCKS for that flow rater . I lucked out and bought out 90% of the shop tools from a closed up old I H dealer . BUt if you want a flow rater and a good one then you can get a reman OTC for around 3700 bucks .
