I just got a wood 5' belly mower for my 51 Cub
I have not put it on
Can any one tell me

IS IT TO BIG FOR A Cub??????
Do the Cubs have the power to run a 5' mower???
Thank's Darock

It depends.

If your Cub's engine is getting tired, it won't run the mower. With a fresh engine, it'll have enough power if you don't let the grass get too deep.

This 1974 cub has had this mower on it since new. I would guess that more of the woods 59 mowers have been installed on cubs then any other tractor. That said; the mower is a fairly good load for the cub. Works best when the blades are kept sharp, the front of the blades slightly lower then the rear of the blades (no since cutting the same grass twice). Also need to remember that this is a finish mower designed to cut grass that is mowed regularly. The taller grass might require a swath smaller then the 59".

The Cub my grandfather had was equipped with the 42" mower and it seemed to take anything you could give it....even tall grass.

The Cub I owned had the 59" mower and it struggled constantly. I can't really offer an apples-to-apples comparison of the engine outputs though.

But: I resolved this dilemma once and for all with a Super A.
