Needing to change the hydraulic on the Lo-Boy I use to mow with. Are the plugs on either side of the rear end the lowest point to drain the fluid, and also if anyone could provide me with a part number for a wix or hastings filter for the top mount filter by the seat I would greatly appreciate it. Anything I could cross-reference is fine too, mine was painted over by the previous owner, may be able to sand the paint off and see but would rsther have the number and get a new filter right off the bat.

I'll check my 184 book tonight and see if I can answer your questions. Just recently got my 184 and haven't changed any oils yet. I'll post back here tommorrow if you don't have an answer by then.
What part of the state are you in? I'm in west Ky.

There should be a drain plug under the rear end in the center for the transmission and hydraulic fluid, I am guessing the plugs of which you speak are the drains for the final drives, the level plugs for the final drives and the hyd-trans are all facing the rear at about the same level, the hyd-trans plug is in the center, you have to remove the mower belt shield to get at it if so equipped..

Can't be far from you tobaccoman, I'm about halfway between Morgantown and Caneyville, half hour north of Bowling Green. The center plug mentioned in the above post that you have to remove the pto shield to get to, unless there's another there that's lower, that one is not low enough for a drain.. matter of fact, I had to add two quarts via that port today just to get my cylinder stroking again.

Drain plug is on bottom of differential, small square headed pipe plug. Fleetguard number is HF 6119.

I didn't do any good for you. The book that came with the 184 is the IT&T manual, not an operators manual like we need. I'm gonna order me one from Binder Books.
Meanwhile, I think you have the correct info above from those guys. In re-reading the Unforgiven's post, I think the plug he is referring to under the shield is fill plug for the hydraulic fluid. On my tractor, the PO has placed a pipe to extend up and out in order to put in fluid w/o removing shield. Crawl under it and I think you will see the drain plug in the center.
No, we're not too far apart. I'm at Calhoun. Good to know there are more 184's around. Mine has the Woods finish mower under it. Does a good job and the little tractor seems to have enough power. Makes fast work of the yard mowing. If you run across a grill, please let me know by hollering for me on this board. Take care.

Funny you should ask, I'm in need of a grill as well.. PO had cut and mounted a gas grill grate and painted it silver.. obviously not the stock piece but it doesn't look bad. I have the Woods RM-59, mine had a rough time when I first got it climbing the hill in front of the house, this fall I re-ringed it and rolled new rod and main bearings in it, does great now. Mine is missing the sideshields that cover the pto clutch and the side shields up at the front as well, but I'm not real concerned about them, if I came across them cheap I'd get 'em, but not putting out an APB on them. A guy I work with does a lot of fishing up the river in Calhoun, he lives in Livermore. We work down at Paradise.

Thanks Bill.. on my way out the door to the parts place now... might as well.. hasn't stopped raining here in So. KY for more than 18 hours in 10 days. Got 15 acres disked the morning it started, fella down the road from us got about 30 acres of corn in the ground, that's all that is planted for miles around.

did you find out what type of fluids go in the rear ends and the hydralic.....are they the same and what type were they. I to have a 184 with a parts manual but no service manual. Thanks for the help.
