TA adjustment on my 1486

Had a new TA installed on my 1486. I got it home and when you pull the TA lever down to drop it to low, it free wheels down hill. Call them up and told them what it was doing and they told me thats the way they do on the low side. I told them BS I know better than that. I was born on a IH tractor and have been around IH tractors all my 49 years. There has to be something out of adjustment maybe on the MCV? Oh, this was done at a CIH dealer. You just can't get nothing fixed right anymore today.

This is WHAT COULD BE WRONG. The selector valve is out of adjustment or the cable that move the selector valve is stretched and need replace and readjusted They may not have adjusted the dump spool correctly or if the teltail light is coming on in the dash then you have low pressure some place. And your wright THEY DO NOT FREE WHEEL WHEN IN THE LOW SIDE AND IF THEY HAVE A PROBLEM THEN THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING . AND I WOULD BE HAVING A FACE TO FACE ISSUE WITH THEM .

if your are not carefull when putting the tractor back together at the clutch. you can miss aligne the input shaft pushing the shaft back through the t/a this well also caues the free wheeling. that why it is recomended to put clutch pressure plate on input shaft then slide tractor together, then bolt up pressure plate from bottom of tractor. had one come into my shop that way they had put a new cluth in tractor and when it wouldn;t go together thy used the frame bolt to pull it together running the t/a clutch plate and pressure plate. and as tractor vet says it could be just out of adjustment. and if they didn't know that it was working wrong when thy sent it home no telling what might be wrong.

Garbage! That's a French word and rhymes with mirage, that imaginary lake folks see in the desert before they die of thirst.

Free wheeling while in gear on a tractor is never an acceptable situation. It can lead to a deadly outcome.

They either screwed up or missed something.

I am with Ben on this one. I have seen so many pto shafts pushed back, bending the large washer and unfortunately this doesn't always show up immediately but it can. Usually causes seal leakage but it can mess up clutch backing plate and or disc. I guess I never saw one push ta drive shaft back but it sure could. You have an issue with the dealer for sure.
