Super M wiring

So Dad and I want to rewire our "52 Super M the wires on it have deteriorated to the point that troubleshooting anything is a chore.
I figure to order wire from McMaster-Carr, the question is what do I need, how much in which size?

We"ll be keeping the 6v system, its been good enough this long, with updated wiring it"ll be good again.

This tractor is a worker, not a trailer queen, it mows probably 100 acres a year (total mowing time you understand) with a 6" bush hog. So the wiring doesn"t have to be stock but I don"t want it to look totally boogered either and no I don"t want to spend the money for a replacement...

Thanks!

Check out Bob M's wiring diagrams for wire gauge that U need. Buy some shrink tubing, and solder all your connectors on. I made my own for my W6.

On that 6 volt system, I would use:

00 Gauge Battery n Starter n Ground Cables

IF you wanna just buy ONE ROLL OF WIRE
12 Gauge stranded copper with crimped n soldered terminals would work, maybe get a roll of red and another of black etc.

Id use 12 for the charging circuits and ignition and maybe 14 on the lights if you wanna buy two different wire sizes. Of course, you could also get buy with 14 gauge for everything but I believe in a bit of overkill and slight oversize to reduce voltage drop which is why Id use more of the 12 gauge even if 14 or 16 will work.

Or see Jim in New York at Agri Services www.wiringharnesses.com and buy a new wiring harness

Thanks Paul, thats what I needed. Looks like I'll want 3 or 4 colors but it shouldn't be too hard.
