Back to Ebay

for the last 3 months I have been visiting Ebay to find a belt pulley for my A. There have been a lot listed going for various prices but several time I have been close but lose, only to have the same item with the same picture show up 2-3 days later all over again. Not just once, Also there seems to be someone who will bid the items up very early on and never bid again. There is one listed now that the 1st bidder went from 9.99 to 20.00 1st bid. I am really not going to buy there anymore from anyone because I believe most are shill bidders to run the prices up or they enter a bid under a different name because they feel the bid did not go high enough. I've sold a few items on Ebay, but haven't bought a whole lot. One of the things I sold was the old belt pulley off my H. I wanted to get 30 to 40 bucks for it, so I started at $9.99. Close to the end it was bid up to $45, and I was happy with that. I had to go to work. When I got home that night bidding had ended, and the final bid was $165!!! A couple guys got into a bidding frenzy! I was worried I would get stiffed and have to start over to get a reasonable price, but the winner paid! I was amazed that it had gone up that high. I can get a brand new paper pulley for $165!!

I have stopped bidding on ebay too it's a con.
game. Get emails from ebay saying they have noticed I no longer am bidding. Giving me a big discount on items I would never bid on anyway. Told them why I don't bid it a crooked place. Everyone should be aware of it. I am not even looking at items anymore. lj

I too think ebay is a sham. I believe people have other people bid up their items. The only way I bid on ebay is to wait till the last second then you know what you are paying. Bernie Steffen

I never bid. Sometimes I do "buy now". You don"t have to watch for four or five days and you"ll end up paying that much anyway.

I use ebay a lot, some selling, mostly buying, and to me it's a real simple thing- I bid what I'm willing to pay, and if I get overbid, the other guy bid too high. I don't get the least bit upset if I get outbid by $1- that's a dollar more than I will pay. On the other hand, I buy a lot of things far cheaper than I can find them elsewhere. It's a good tool if used to your advantage.

If I see something that I'll buy if it doesn't go for much I bid my price early, one time. If a shill wants to run it up they can have it, but sometimes I get the item at my price or less. If I really want the item I wait until the end and bid my price at the last second.

I just figure that's the way the game is played.

I would say that the overall opinion on this one is the same as mine. "let the buyer beware". Like many others I make one bid. Thats what I'ts worth to me and all I'm prepared to pay. End of story. TC MTF
