The three armatures each have 23 commutator segments but have not yet checked as to how the armature pole to commutator segment offset compares between them.
As the conversion of the baler motor is proving to be more difficult than I had envisaged, I am taking your advice and will have the switch post on the S/A motor replaced with a threaded stud as an easier way out.

You are welcome. Electric motors are actualy a high science. Though they sem simple, the analysis that goes into the geometry, and magnetic efficiency is a lab experiment. SSPending time remaking a starter to have it make 50% torque is not worth it. It might be fun, but might not be. JimN
