1466, steering wheel question

looked at a 1466 tonight. It has that tilt(?) steering, but the steering wheel seems like it is real sloppy, left to right and up and down. I noticed this same issue on a 756 I looked at lasat year. Is this no big deal and an easy fix, or is a pain in the rear that I wouldnt easily be abble to correct.

They are some what of a pain in the drain but not to bad The parts are the killer , unless ya have a machine shop that doe not want to retire on one job that can make up the bushings and just by the shaft . I have rebuilt a couple some years ago .

I made some makeshift bushings for the tilt on my 1256 and it helped a lot. I priced a new bracket with bushings and I want to say it was something like $500!!! I think the knuckle and shafts were about $275! I about crapped my pants when I heard that. Mine works plenty good for what I use it for. $800 to completely rebuild did not seem like a prudent option!

I believe i said that the parts prices were a killer . And if you can make your won bushings then only by the shaft . One doen not know what one needs for parts till ya open them up and look . Tilt wheels are nice when new and everything is working but when something goes wrong here come the price of parts sticker shock , don't matter if it is a tractor or a semi or anything in between . Myself i prefer plain and simple and that will cause enough grief . One could alway change it back over to the straight wheel with a few bone yard parts and not have to worry about all the fancy stuff.
