IH 1100 sickle bar mower

Well, I got the 1100 sickle bar mower loaded and moved from SE Iowa to Central Nebraska! Thanks for the input from you guys/gals on this over the past couple of weeks.

Here's another question, what years were the 1100's made? Also, where can I get a new decal kit for this mower? I'm thinking by the time I go all through the mower and put new sickle, guards in, I might as well give it a new paint job too!

Don't know about getting decals, you may have to go custom. Exact years of production were also a little hard to locate. The only reference I could uncover indicated the mowers were put into production in the early 1970's. The 1100 itself was specifically mentioned as still in production in 1980. The earlier versions of the balanced head mowers had three digit numbers. Specifically, the earlier version of your mower was the 100. Could not locate a copyright in my manual. The manual does have some pretty fair pictures of the decals, however, and some are generic and could possibly be cannibalized from decal kits for other items if necessary. I know that my 1110 mounted mower was put on in 1968, so I would say that the 1100 trailer mower was available in '68 as well.

My father-in-law bought one new in 1972 and still has it. Original parts include the wobble box (never been apart) and the head pin (greased every hour). I don't know if he has replaced the driveline U-joints or not - the thing looks like new.

Did you get my manual pages with the grease information?

Dave, Do you show anything on a 1000 balanced head mower? Don"t realy know but guessing it came before the 1100. My operators manual showes how to mount it on tractors up to the 756 and 856 which would put it made to 67 anyway.

All I know of it is that it is listed with the new line of 1000 series mowers that IH came out with in the late 60's - early 70's.

Semi mounted with trailer wheel. Don't know much else.

Thanks, after checking I think the 1000, 1100 and 1300 were the same basic mower with different mounting. Showes what little I know about IH mowers, only other model IH I had was a # 25. Also noticed instruction manual is dated january 69 which fits in the area you and steve mentioned.

BTW, I have the parts manuals for IH balanced-head mowers, along with owner's manuals for some, and the IH Blue Ribbon service manual for rebuilding the head...
