where are the hydraulic filters on 3688

This tractor is fairly new to me. I bought the repair manual but it is not quite basic enough for my purposes.

I am having problems with the hydraulics so I want to do the basics...pull the filter(s), check it out and put a new one on. I will change the fluid if the filter looks at all questionable.

Which filter(s) should I look at?...Where are they located? The fuel filters are obvious to me but I'm not sure what's going on with the rest. Can I do an intitial inspection of the filters without draining the fluid?

I also heard that there is a pick-up screen that can be cleaned. Can this be done without dropping all the fluid?

Any help is appreciated.

You bought a REPAIR manual, and you're expecting it to tell you how to perform MAINTENANCE. Wrong tool for the job. You may as well be pounding nails with a pair of pliers.

Get the owner's manual. That will include the maintenance how tos that you're looking for, oil types, capacities, lubrication points, maintenance intervals... It's all in there.

There should be a round cover held on with wing nuts on the right side in front of the wheel. This cover should be on a 6-sided plate that bolts to the side of the tractor. Removing either will give you access to the hydraulic filter. You will lose a couple gallons of fluid.

If changing the filter doesn't fix the problem, changing the fluid won't help. You've got bigger problems.
