Cub cadet Snow blower

I have a IH cub cadet 682 with a AQ 42A snow blower attachement.

This winter I discovered a bevel gear (the bigger of the two gears) in the right angle gear box is stripped and needs replaced. I check the dealer the part is no longer available, neither is the entire gear box.

I can find gear boxes for rototillers but not snow blowers (on eaby and elsewhere).

Is the right angle gear box the same one used for the Rototillers?

I hate to junk the snow blower due to obsolete parts but it is not looking good. Your help is appreciated.

Take the old gear out then get hold of a BROWNING dealer and they can get you a new one. You need the size amount of teeth and shaft size. Probably can order on-line just need all the info gor the gear.

The right angle gear boxes are the same for both the snow blower and the tiller (differant pulleys though). The gear boxes are not cheap but are listed all the time on Ebay. Problem is what you buy may only be marginally better than what you have. The newest ones are well over 25 years old and the older ones are over 40 years old - even IH products wear out eventually.

If you can find a replacement gear from a secondary supplier you'll probably be a lot better off.
