c clutch (auburn VS rockford)

The disks and pressure plates are probably all going to be the rockford style in the supply chain. The clutch diske will interchange for either Pressure plates. The components of the Pressure Plate (springs and levers cannot be interchanged. JimN

(quoted from post at 11:52:35 04/26/09) is there a difference on the clutch itself where as a rockford has it's own and the auburn has it's own.
sincerely,
tim
Yes - that is why one is called an Auburn and the other is called a Rockford - to distinguish the two from each other.

the rockford center clutch has a better spring retaining system and is a better clutch. They will take more abuse and absorb more vibration than the auburn.

Rockford pressure plates used 6 pressure springs and Auburn used 3 if you need to tell which is which. Same flywheel used for both.

are you 100% sure? i only bring this up as i was bolting the pressure plate in i can see where its going to interfer with the clutch disc springs basically bind it up. which makes me wonder if they gave me the correct one when i ordered it.
sincerely,
tim

there is a difference on the fly wheel. you have different hole spacing for the pressure plate. i just wanted to know is there a difference between the two clutch discs or are they one in the same.

Both discs sub to the same part # 56631DB

BUT you may well have ended up with some other random disc for another tractor. Things like that happen...

Rockford pressure plate & Auburn clutch disc will not work; BTDT! Get a matched set. My grandson & I had to re-split his C to remedy that mismatch on his newly rebuilt C about 3 years ago.
