GAS OR DIESEL

WHICH WOULD BE BETTER A GAS OR DIESEL 656 HYDRO IN SOUTHERN MN FOR YEAR AROUND USE ? AND HOW DO ES A PERSON NOW IF THE HYDRO IS GOOD OR GOING DOWN HILL ?

A 656 gas hydro will be very hard on fuel, It would be more economical to run a deisel. I would"nt have a hydro myself, Way to expensive to repair. I guess I would see if it slips at all, I know some guys replace the hy tran fluid with gear oil or something thicker when the hydro starts getting weak , so check for that.

If the tractor will be worked enough to get it fully warmed up everytime you start it, go with the diesel. If it will be mostly started up, used for a few minutes and then shut down again, go with the gas version.

Don't plan on plowing or other heavy tillage with a Hydro because that will ruin the hydro yet they (hydro's) seem to do ok in a combine working all day. Armand
