I am wondering do a M and H use the same starter? I know there is a 2 bolt and 3 bolt. I need a 2 bolt and have one spoted from a M and wondering if it will fit my H? Thanks Paul

Bolts right in. Some differences may be found in the switch location, direction of push/pull.
Two bolt fits two bolt H-M. Putting a clutch type replacement drive on it is also a good idea. JimN

They will interchange though originally some H starters did not have the center armature bearing. I have only seen a couple like that and I added the bearing to them. There are some after market starters that have a drive end housing that do not have the recess and threaded holes to add the bearing. They can cause problems on an M or a high compression H by bending the armature enough to rub while cranking. If you stick with a starter with a Delco tag you should be fine.

I've read of these clutch type starter drives, but haven't been able to find out more about them than that they're a good idea.
Are they available from Case IH or aftermarket?
An idea of how they work?
Thanks, Wm

Thanks, Jim. I'll check with my local (only two counties away; counties are small here in S.C.) Case IH place next time I'm by there.
