Plowing pics

Put the plow on my cub for the first time in MANY years. And put er to work in my new garden patch. About 3/4 of an acre took about 6 hrs. LOTS of back and forth. It's amazing that these things were originally marketed for anyone farming under 40 acres. That would take forever! It was fun though, did a great job. Now I just need to track down a seeder and cultivators.

When I was a little kid, probably 5 or 6, Dad bought a Cub for a chore tractor and probably for me to learn to drive. The local IH dealer (NE Iowa) burned down and there was a plow for a Cub in the fire. Dad got it for almost nothing to plow the garden patch with, but never used it. I remember Dad sold the Cub and plow to a guy from Minnesota when he bought a C in '49 or '50, so the only time the plow was mounted was when we drove the 1 1/2mi. to town, mounted it and brought it home and again when Dad sold it. Another one of those things it would be nice to have today.

Great pics! Yes the Cub is slow but still faster than a Mule, and more fun. We forget today that as slow and hard to operate (no power steering etc) as these old tractors are they we much better than what came befor them. Dave

Nice photos. "Fun" & "did a great job" would probably be how my Grandfather felt about his Cub back in the 1950s. When I think about the tools Grandfather had in his barn back then (scythe for whacking nettles, etc., posthole digger for one guy to get blisters with, two-man crosscut saw [pre-Womens'-Lib]), the Cub would appear to be a wonderful machine.
