340 utility noise question

I sure do enjoy my 340, today i pulled a 7ft digger for about 2 hours, this tractor is fun and just the right size for my needs. I still appreciate all the help this site lended to me a few years ago, as i rebuilt the engine on her. I have one question: do the 340 always make a howling noise when driving down the road? i mostly hear it when in 4th or 5th gear, and traveling fast, i never hear this noise in low gears while working it. the noise does not sound like metal wearing, more like a howling noise. I use hytran in the trans/hyd sump. thanks, JimG.

They do howl, but not so much that you can't hear yourself think.

All my farm tractors have always done that in the high gears. A lot of it comes from the tires, too.

On my 560 I had a howl under the seat in 5th hi&lo on the road but that was it. When I went to replace the axle seal I found that the pinon bearing was bad and broke the cast ring at the back ok the ta was in 4 peices wich took the ta out with it all said and done $2000 to fix in my shop with help from alot of good friends.
