Making a Farmall miniture H tractor

Hi, I have a friend that will be making a miniture tractor from a lawn mower chasis. He will be making a fiberglass layup hood, grill, fenders and gas tank, and putting them on the lawnmower frame. Has anyone done this before? Does anyone have any pictures of small scale model farmall tractors that they made similar to this? Any advice for someone making this? Thanks a bunch! Don

I have seen a F-12 or something like that in perhaps 1/2 scale; I think a lot of lawn mower and small tractor parts, maybe some fancy casting or machining - it seems the engine actually looked right. I think there is a JD out there in 1/16th or something - about table top size; that one I think was all machined to scale. It seems I've seen a steamer and a threshmachine done as well, but a lot of cobwebs in the noggin.

It'd be surprising if someone hasn't redone the body on a CubCadet or something to model an H or something, but I don't recall seeing one.

I know of a fella out in ohio, Chris somethin' or other, built an F 1-1/2, powered with an old 1-1/2 hp one-lunger IIRC. Tin to match an F12, and he had decals made to say F 1-1/2 that's make you do a double take.

Can be done. Tough part of the tin on an H would be the grille, I'd think, maybe a cut down A/B grille. That, and NFE if that's what you want, and running the steering shaft over the top might take some fabbing up, but wouldn't be too bad a projet for the guy with the skills to do it.

Red Power magazine featured a pair of scale 560s recently. They sorta look like the real thing, I guess...

Here's a 1/4 scale(?) 460 and F12 with implements at last year's "Pageant of Steam" (Canandaigua NY) last year.

Both tractors I believe are powered by Briggs & Stratton.

Way cool!

This one's a Farmall "428". It's constructed on a Cub Cadet chassis. Under the hood are FOUR 3 HP Briggs engines connected via cogged belts to a jack/clutch input shaft running beneath the frame.

The tractor runs VERY nicely. It's exhaust note is interesting - kinda like an unmuffled Cub or Allis G.

Or you can build it all from scratch and have it you like the real size.

This 44 diesel is about 1/3 size.

I seem to recall a H or M half size on a cub cadet frame and rear end with a Austin/BMC 850cc engine from Healey Sprite- this was in a sports car magazine- the little tractor was used to haul cars around race pit and car shows. Engine had been leftover from installing bigger engine in sports car, tractor frame and rear end noted to have come from a parks dept that didn"t check engine oil when summer students were hired. Body sheet metal and other bits from a body shop that did lot of sports car repair and body work and built club racers of Lotus patterns. This was around Southern California area. RN.

Here's a 1/4 or so scale John Deere R I spotted a few years ago.

Engine is a Perkins(?) truck refer diesel cut down to 2 cylinders. The pony (starting) motor is a gas weedwhacker engine. (The diesel is running in this photo.)

The tractor is "driven" by the dummy perched on the tractor. It's however is actually operated via RC control by a passenger riding aboard a small wagon hitched to the tractor.

It's fascinating to watch crowd reaction as it puts around a show.

Seen a minature E-30 running a minature threshing machine in Madison So Dak once lots on minature Red ones at the RED POWER shows

That's interesting, I have that in common. My 'H' is driven by a dummy too. It's full sized and married to my wife.
