Cleaning up the Farmall gas 504 I got last winter. Now I'm on to the electrical system. When running the generator idiot light flashes on and off-not briskly but perhaps 3 second intervals. Also the gas gauge needle bounces from empty up to 3/4 or so on a full tank. It bounces even with ignition on and engine not running, you can hear it when the engine is off. I have replaced the voltage regulator and wiring from gen. to vr checks out. Any ideas on where to go next? The battery does charge so something is working right, but all light wiring has been removed so I suspect she had some earlier problems.

Now with out seeing the tractor and checking each and every wire to the wiring diagram and tracking it from one end to the other . It would be a craps shoot . Over the years and who knows what all has been Micky Moused , Barnyard reengineered Sometimes it is better to start from square one and either try and find a FACTORY Wire harness a wiring diagram and go for it. Myself i can build a factory looking harness with the correct wire size and color with the correct ends so when i need to redo i just redo . Got one that i have to do this week for a old customer on his 706 this week . Sold him that tractor 14 years ago and still taking care of it for him.
