Car Exhaust Passing Emissions

My exhaust is too hot to pass emissions in GA. It's failed twice. After first fail, had spark plugs and wires replaced; both upper engine mounts; oil replaced with top brand oil. Still failed emissions 2nd time. I believe there is a lower intake manifold oil leak. Could this be the problem?

I'm curious, what was the logic that you used to conclude that this would be an appropriate place to ask such a question?

Lots of old guys talking about old tractors... Must be the PERFECT place to ask about emissions questions on a late-model car. I mean, they're practically the same thing, right? Replacing the PCV valve on my 1943 Farmall M is certainly difficult, and boy what a time I had when the engine computer went south on my 1939 Farmall A...

Maybe she drives an IH? TOO hot exhaust?

if you want to try a quick and inexpensive way, run the fuel tank down to about 1/4 tank. go to a gas station that sells e-85 fuel, fill the tank to about the 3/4 mark and head for the test lane. car should sail thru pretty easy as long as its not smoking oil from bad rings. run the fuel down to 1/2 a tank then refill with regular gas.

Couple of things...

"too hot" isn't an appropriate technical description to begin offering useful advice. Not trying to be smart or poke anyone in the eye, but you need to know if it is failing for hydrocarbons, NOx, or CO, or some other chemistry.

It would also be helpful to know model year and vehicle type as some are not sniffer-tested.

Hehehehe! I bet my old M won't pass either. I know for sure the 666 won't. Black smoke rolls when you load it up good.

Thanks for the response. My car is a 1992 Cutlass Supreme SL Oldsmobile. The GA Vehicle Emissions Inspection Report readings where my car failed twice are:

NO x ppm
Reading: 1193
Allowed: 848
Result: Fail

Trust this helps.
Thanks again, and will be waiting for your response and others.
