Farmall H Carb Leaking

I am currently restoring a 1946 Farmall H and am having trouble with the carb leaking. I have soaked it in carb bendix and installed a repair kit which consisted of all new shafts, idle and load adj. screws and gaskets and such. The float was in exccelent condition and was tested in a glass of water for leaks. The carb bowl was checked for cracks and none were found. It runs great and does not leak when running. It seams as though it is being siphoned through the load jet after shutting the engine off and then leaking through the drain hole on the bottom of the carb. The float as far as I know is adjusted correctly. Thanks in advance anyone that can shed some light on my dilema.

Siphon? Much more likely a needle/seat/float problem. Gas will seep thru a hole that water won't. Suggest submerge float in gasoline or hold it under hot water and look for bubbles as heat expands warm air increasing pressure inside the float. Check for gasket & tight seat. Be sure float not dragging sides of bowl.

I have the same problem, There are a few options assuming the float is good. The float is getting hung up on the side of the bowl. Even though the needle and seat are new sometimes the have a coating on them making the hang up. Gently sand the needle with some 2000 grit to get the junk off. The float is not set right. It will not leak when it runs because the vacuum pulls all the gas up

Well I checked the float and it is not binding up. I also made sure the gas was shutting off when I pushed the float up and it was. Funny thing is that it has not leaked since I put the float bowl back on. I have run it and shut it off at least 20 times and still no leak. Now that I said that it is probably leaking as I write this. Thanks for your thoughts and I guess I will just have to keep an eye on it for a while. Just for an after thought the last time it was leaking when I removed the bowl the bowl was only about half full of gas.

Wheter the carb leaks or not you should get in the habit of closing valve at the sediment bowl every time you shut the tractor down. Thw last thing you need is a puddle of gasoline under your tractor.
