International 460 - Replace Oil Pressur Guage. How?

International 460. Trying to replace the oil pressure guage.

It looks like it is buried pretty deep in the console. It should be easy to replace if I could get the console off and the bolts loose, but they are rusted in pretty bad.

How much of the console do I have to take apart to get to it?

I tried taking off the left side trim panel, but it is just a pretty and there is still steel behind it that won't let me get my paw up there to loose the screws holding the guage in.

Suggestions?
 
Remove the screws in the dash panel and lift it up. Gauges have all wires except the oil pressure gauge has a steel tube, and the water temperature gauge "cable" is not easy to work with. You said International, not Farmall -- there are differences, but the dash panel should still lift out with some difficulty. Screws are easy to break off -- the nut is welded to the underlying sheet metal.

Good way to put it. Not easily, but not really too hard.

Not all of the screws are easy to break off. :roll:
I couldn't get the screwdriver to stick good enough in the head to get a grip to break off the screw. I had a couple of screws that I was able to get a pair of vice grips on and get them screwed out. I did break off one screw. I ended up having to drill out one screw because I couldn't get the vicegrips to grip onto the dome head and the screwdriver slot wouldn't work.

Not really too bad. I did have some cranky when I got the panel screwed back in and started the engine and the throttle wouldn't slow the engine down. Found out I had to get the rod shoved back in the correct hole to get it to guide correctly. :oops:
