H starting/electrical problems

I am having starting problems with my '44 Farmall H. It will not fire with the starter. It turns over but no fire. I'll pull start it and it'll fire and runs good. Turn if off and nothing off the starter again. HELP!! I have a new battery, starter was rebuilt a year ago, all new wires, starter button, coil, plugs, pulg wires, and resistor are all new. I am now standing with my arms in the air, what should I try next? Any help would be appreciated.

You need to measure the battery voltage at the coil when using the starter to crank over the engine. Your starter may be drawing too much amps
from the battery and doesn't leave enough battery voltage for the ignition. I would try another fully charged battery to eliminate your new battery. You can use a hydrometer to check your new battery's condition. Check each cell and compare the readings should read 1.260 or better. Hal

Is it 6 volts or 12 volts?

6 volts should not use a resistor in series with the coil.

If 12 volts, a true 12 volt or "12 volt no external resistor required" coil does not use a resistor

If 12 volts with 6 volt coil resistor goes between coil and ignition switch. You should have about 6 volts on coil input with points closed.

Also, if positive ground the positive post of coil goes to distributor, if negative ground negative post goes to distributor.

Here's a chart that may help

Your problem sounds exactly like a bad impulse to me, but youre using a distibutor right? Is it possible you have the switch wire on the wrong side of the starter switch? Try temorarily running the hot side of the switch startigh to the battery and see if it will fire off.
