does anyone know what temp a 53 super m is desingned to run at? mine doesn't have a thermostat in it and it barely gets over 100*. i seams to run good that way, but i was wondering if it would run better at a warmer temp.

You want to put a thermostat in that tractor. It should be running somewhere in the 160-190 degree range. Running it cooler than that will reduce the power output, increase bore wear, and increase oil dilution. Put a thermostat in and put her to work. Sam

It may have had a 160 degree themostat back when it was built since Zerone was used for antifreeze
which was alcohol and wouldn't boil away at that temp. We used it in a C and an H and we would drain it when the cold weather was over. You could probably use an 180 degree thermostat. Hal
PS: I would watch that temp gauge when working it hard in the summer heat.

Unless it the middle of the summer, it is not going to rise without a load on it. Thermostat will help.
