Farmall 460 Schwartz WFE Steering Arm

Have a 460 with the Schwartz wide front and the steering arm broke off. The arm broke from the plate that is bolted underneath, it looks like it had been weleded a couple of times.

We found a used factory IH steering arm and installed it in place of the Schwartz arm and found that the inner tie rod ends are too big for the holes in the new arm. Compared the IH one and holes in the Schwartz are bigger.

So my questions are:
Should the inner tie rod ends be the same size for all wide fronts of that vintage?

Should we try and drill out the cast iron holes in the IH arm or go get a replacement Schwartz arm from an A&I dealer?

Get the right part.

Aren't the holes tapered? You probably don't have a tapered reamer, so it will never be right if you try to drill them out. You will also likely have problems with the geometry of the steering. Wrong toe-in, not enough or too much steering action...

I'd actually attempt to weld up the original plate again. We've had good success doing that, adding a little material to beef it up.

Correct the holes are tapered, would be hard ti drill into cast. So if what I am hearing is correc the tie rods are not interchanable between wide fronts of different manufacture (Schwartz, Speeco, IH, etc?)
