Paint on a plow

Anybody know correct color for two bottom mounted plow for C Farmall? My plow shows signs of being red. All the pictured I see show dark blue. Just wondered whats right. Thanks in advance. Bernie Steffen

I don't think there was an absolute standard. On ours the beams were red and the Super Chief wings were backed in blue as were the appendages such as colter and wheel mounts. We had another where some of the beams etc were blue. We had a neighbor with a C and an older plow that was all blue.

I used to collect old magazine adds for my Super C and the fast hitch implements. I know I have three different paint schemes on the same model C20 plow. Just found the adds, forgot where I put em. One's all blue/black bottoms and colters and a cream colored tail wheel, next one's got red hitch and beams, black bottoms and colters, blue tail wheel bracket and cream wheel, also red colter supports, from the beams down to wishbones whatever there called, then a couple Super C plows without fast hitch, one looks black with a cream wheel, one looks blue with blk colters and no tail wheel, ya can't see the moldboards ,looks like he's plowing a foot and a half deep. So, don't look like any hard evidence of a uniform paint plan here. Paint it like ya want it, nobody will know the difference, Jim

Here is my C-20 just about finished. I have to paint the bottoms yet but otherwise it is done. This plow was completely disassembled and blasted. I bought it on a pallet in pieces. While getting everything around to blast I made note of original colors. They are as you see them.. Paint colors came from areas where nuts had been or parts had been mated, etc.... Has plow chief bottoms. While putting new points and shares on that came with the plow I discovered that the bottoms were originally blue so that's what I will be making them again... Coulter blades showed black paint but they have been replaced as they look brand new and are CIH parts instead of IH - I made them black even though that may not be correct...
