Duals on an M

Someone posted a message asking how to get more power out of an M and my question was, what to do with the extra power. Traction would be the limiting factor.

Anyone ever put duals on an M, or seen it done?

How would you go about it?

Gene

There is a picture on the board somewhere with 4 tires on one. Maybe archive search on duals?

Gene, that was a fairly common thing to do with an M or even an H when pulling a spike tooth harrow in freshly plowed ground. The normal way was to get a second pair of wheels and dish the inner set in and the outer set out. It ought to be doable.

Wednesday afternoon I will be in the Capitol while you guys have your rally. It should be a good day.

There's two M's I know of around here that are dualled. Don't know about working them that way as both were done for fun rather than for use. Sam

We ran dual 14.9 x 38's on both our Super M's for many years for fitting and planting. It provided reduced soil compaction and very good traction.

The inner wheels were mounted with the wheel dish facing in and in as far as hitch clearance permitted. The outers were mounted 'dish out' with the hubs tight to the inner wheel hubs.

gene, i have three sets of duals for m's. two sets of clamp on duals, and one set of peterson bolt on duals. i'll get a couple pics of em and post em for ya.

Here is one of my SC's dualed up and hung up in the creek. I use this set up to mow the creek bottoms when wet to keep from tracking the place up so bad. It usually doesn't leave a print in the sod. Have had duals on my M's before to but no pics of those. That is an 100 inch Ford mower.
