Super A seals

I am putting the 1950 together and noticed that the seals on the final drive, on the transmission casting, are much narrower. Do they require 2 per side? Also, I assume the spring side faces inward toward the tranny. Any input appreciated.

I usually double them up if there is room. The newer sealing technology is much better than it was 50 years ago, but using two guarantees you won't have a seal lip land on top of a groove worn on the shaft and cause a leak. Just my opinion.

One seal is fine, the newer seals are narrower then the old leather seals. and yes the springs face in towards the gears.

Mark: Don't bother doubling them up, just doubles your cost. The outside one dries up, breaks up, and by the time the first one wear to the point of leak the second one is no good anyhow.

Put her in the bore so that she sits on clean shaft and not the previous wear point of the original seal...

I had the shafts welded and turned back down to size to get rid of the groove. I'm into it up to my armpits on a 130.
