Hi guys, Im new here and hoping to find some answers. I recently bought my Grandfathers 200 Farmall after he passed away last year from my Grandmother and am wanting to restore it. To me I think it makes sense to start with mechanical stuff then do paint and body work. My biggest question is about the fluids, does the transmission take HYTRAN or Gear Oil? Ive been given both answers more than once and its hard to tell by the fluid thats in it. Also is the rear end and trans all the same reservoir? Location of drain and fill points would also be helpful. And the case around pto shaft is that all part of it or a separate thing to fill? One more and I'll shut up it also has I think they call it the "touch control" and I know its a separate deal does it take HYTRAN? thanks for any help and info you can give me.

Does Grandma have the owner's manual?
Order one plus the parts manual and so many of your questions will be answered right in front of you! Binder Books is a great source.
Hy-Tran goes in the hydraulic system; 90W-140 goes in the transmission.

Case IH has a web site. If you follow the links to parts, you can bring up 200 Farmall. Every part is listed at some place on the parts diagram and you will be able to establish original parts numbers. The rear end and trans fluid add hole is on top of the deck just to the front left of the gear stick. The level check is a plug at the right rear of the axel housing. Make sure the tractor is sitting level when you make the check. Hydraulic oil is to be checked by removing the fill plug on the left of the hydraulic reservoir under the gas tank. Fill with hydraulic oil until it runs out. The level changes depending on the touch control and rear remote cylinder settings, so the level may change.

Definitely order a reprint manual. It's the best $30 (or less) you'll ever spend on the tractor. They may have on in the store on this site, or you can go to wwwDOTbinderbooksDOTcom.
