tractor shifts fine in all gears.
yet when i release the clutch in gear it stalls the engine. it doesn't matter what gear. i can have it in nuetral and i can push it around by hand.

this problem seems to be the opposite of having the forks not in line. i have an m that once in awhile i have to re-align.

If it is in Neutral will the engine run with your foot off of the clutch Pedal?
The design in neutral has the counter shaft free to move at will.
If in any gear the main shaft must move.
(this includes the PTO if it is in gear)
So I believe it must be an input bearing, or rear main shaft bearing that is locked up. The power takeoff and belt pulley systems could be involved as well as they are shaft driven from the main shaft in the trans. JimN

you re-affirmed my suspicions. i am thinking it has to do with the input shaft. i bounced my problem with a co-worker (he's a john deere guy) and the end of the night that's basically what he thought also
