Does anyone know what the correct endplay is for the main bolster shaft, and how to adjust it if not correct?

Thanks,

you might post for Bob M, he used to have some very detailed photos of repairing the front bolster on an M I belive. Bobs forgot more than I will ever know.

David - I don't know how much vertical play is "correct" for an H. However the pivot shafts on both my Super H and Super M drop between 3/8" and 1/2" when jacked up.

There is no adjustment for end play . However excessive end play can be from a failed (crushed) pivot shaft thrust bearing, a loose or improperly installed worm sector gear, or a missing thrust bearing spacer.

With the tractor is resting on it's front wheels, so long as the 4 bolts that connect the pivot shaft flange to the front wheel bolster flange do not rub on the underside of the fixed bolster, the worm sector gear is reasonably centered vertically with the steering worm, and the steering is not too stiff overall, I wouldn't worry about the amount of end play.

Geez Paul - I forgot now where I posted those bolster repair images(!)

Seriously, the images disappeared with the demise of EpsonPhoto. However I still have 'em and will repost if anyone is interested. ...Bob M
