47' Cub Rearend Followup

I was looking at the axle today and it looks like there is a king nut on the end of the shaft facing in to the tractor with a cotter pin holding it in place. So i was wondering do i have to take this nut off and if i do what direction are the threads (right or left)? And how can u get the axle pressed out. I no a buddy that has a press but i dont know what im suppose to do to get the axle out. Thanks in advance.

This is easier to do if you remove the final drive first and do it on the bench. The threads on the nut are right hand. Just hold the axle and back the nut off. It should not be real tight. The axle runs through the bull gear and there are shims and spacers in there. Remove the bottom pan to see what you have. Once the nut is off you can press the axle out.
