IH Manifold on an M, does it increase HP?

I have an M with a manifold that is stamped IH with a number 362437 R2. It looks different than other M manifolds I have seen. The box that is normally in the middle is seperated and has 3 upright bars connecting the exhaust to the intake. Is this a special option or does it make more power? never seen one before. Thanks

Might be off a 400 or 450 gas. As the tractors got newer and fuel octane got higher, a colder manifold was beneficial. The 450 manifolds are worth some coin to the pullers that grind off those 3 ribs to make it even colder.

The LP manifolds bring top dollar, as well.

That is a all fuel manifold. Yes it will make more power because the exhaust is "not"heating the intake charge like the one you spoke of.

Alot of pullers cut those small briges seprating the intake from the exhaust, it becomes a L.P manifold.

A tru L.P manifold is a divorced manifold design , the intake and exhaust do not touch.

So yes it will make a little more power.

with three ribs it is a 450 gasoline manifold. the one for a 400 has a small triangle where the ribs are at. it is definitely not a all fuel manifold. yes this manifold is better than the one that originally came on your m. the exhaut runners are larger and the intake is cooler.
