H spraying oil

That's one possibility that a compression test would probably answer.

Another possibility is there's some sort of blockage in the head and oil is running down from the valve spring/rocker arm area thru the valve guide(s) into the exhaust. A crack in the head leading to the same result is also a possibility.

Last thing to check is that the engine oil has not been grossly overfilled.

hey guys,
ive got a '42 H that is spraying oil out the exhaust pipe. I first noticed it last fall while plowing (about 2 acres). Its a working tractor so it needs to be somewhat reliable. I dont want it to be using more oil than gas! Im thinking bad rings?

I have compression tester so I will check that first. What should I be looking for as far as psi goes?

thanks,
-Steve

Anything over 100, no more than 20 psi difference in cylinders.Throttle wide open, engine warm, all pugs out. fully charged battery.
