Here's the W6

She's alive! Took 2 days, and about $200 worth of parts, but she's worth it. By the way, anyone know how to tighten the play in the steering? The wheel goes about 1/2 turn before any action on the front end.

It makes me happy to save one from the boneyard or the fence row. This one's a 1945, it's got a good battery box, good tool box, and the hand crank is still there, even the clip that holds it against the clutch housing. The only thing missing is the headlights, but I'll find some. She runs o.k., but she needs a good tune-up and valve adjustment.

Hi Gary,
I looked in my owners manual and service manual and couldn't find a thing. I'll keep digging until I find something. I have a 48 model W-6 and love it. Congrats
Charles

Nice old tractor you got there, lot of hours on a '48 W-6 back in the early 1950's on my uncle's farm. Sad to tell you this but getting the slack out of the steering is no easy task, there are no real adjustments you can make. Probably have to take the gearbox apart and look for and replace any worn parts you can get. Check the linkages to the wheels too.

I just got me a Super W6...they're neat tractors. I had to buy a parts tractor for mine. Looks like beauty you got there. Good luck on the restoration....make her all pretty.
