U2A Power Unit

What is a U2A power unit and what where was it used? In 1956, when I was 5, we drove to Chicago to the IH plant for this engine. Dad put it on one of our 2 B's and we called it the "big B". Dad was a field engineer for IH between college and WW2.

Same engine as your B. Some had a starter that mounted reversed from the B as it was below the filter and the starter was under the filter an earliet model mite not have even had a starter. I have a later version that even has a plate where a hy punp went.

Hi Frank: You asked Where they were used? Back in those days, pull type combines were common and the two choices were PTO or power unit like the engine your dad bought. The 113 cu engine was used on many IHC combines late '40 and 1950's as was the Cub engine. Hay balers also had choice of engine but in our area PTO was favored. Deep South probably that other needs for Power units. ag
