Farmall A rebuild

I just put new pistons and sleeves in my farmall A and I had the head done by a machine shop. I was wondering is it normal for the tractor to smoke when you throttle up after a rebuild. Does it have to break in? I dipped the pistons in oil befor I installed them and I wipped off only the top. What do you guys think?

It takes 15 hours for residual oil, break in lube, and build grease to burn out. Break it in over this time with continuous changes in RPM. No more than 1/2 throttle for an hour, then all RPM is good. Full load for brief 5 min pulls after about 5 hrs. JimN
