Hey,Tractor Vet

Well I put more hydraulic fluid in it today and that didn't help, light still on and no clutch, steering or brakes. The disc would come up and the pto worked but that is all.Do you think it is the pump or some valve? I don't mind putting a pump in it if you think that is what it is. Thanks

How long did ya run it ??? This one may be a bit stubborn . Is the tractor setting level ??? When was the last time you replaced the seal on the hyd. filter cover ??? Did you over fill the system???. With out being there it is tough to say. Next try pulling the Orface plug outBottom plug on the back side of the MCV should take either a 5/8th or 9/16 wrench memory is getting foggy on wrench sizes anymore , pull the plug THEN start the tractor but be ready to shut it off fast if it picks up prime as it will dump three gallon a min out that hole .. Then if that don't work there is one last ditch method if you are close to a air supply . This is where ya pull the dipstick out of the fill tube and with a blow gun and a rag ya start the tractor and run it at around 12-1500 and start putting air into the transmission and it will take a bit to force the hdy. oil up and around to the MCV . IF and when it does pick up prime then SLOWLY LET THE PRESSURE OFF if ya don't she will look like old faithful and you will have Hy Tran shooten thirt y feet in the air . Don't ask how i know this. Now if this all fails to pick up prime then it is time to drain the speed transmission and pull the MCV and put a pump in it along with rebuilding of the MCV . No sence of just putting in a new pump on old wore out seals and gskts and weak springs. Just remember to use the same thickness gskt for remounting the MCV to the transmission and don't loose the sump check plug or it's spring. lower right hand side of the transmission case also remember to replace the one O/Ring that goes into the lower left side of the transmission case with the new gskt.

I probably ran it about 20 minutes, replaced the hyd filter and oring, overfilled it and it is on level ground,I will try the plug you are talking about and if that don't work I guess it is time to order pump. It will be a few days before I get all this done but I will let you know and thanks alot for the help.

Hello Vet,
I just wanted to say i really enjoyed reading your post! I never though of the air trick, I can see that happening. I think it is a 5/8 wrench. you forgot to tell him don't stand on the step when you start the tractor with the plug out, the washing machine doesn't like hyd oil.

If the Vets way dont work get a pump oil can and pump a bunch of Hy-oil up in that 5/8ths plug there talkin about . Need to pump it in a bit of a upward direction , you ll be able to tell if it s going in cause it wont be pouring strait back out .
