vibration in a IH666 diesel w/312 engine

I have a IH666 Diesel with a 312 engine that vibrates when you drive down the road at 1500 rpm, so much so that it will ruin the tin work. It only does this in 5th gear, ta or dd, and only on the road. I have jacked both rear wheels off the floor and ran it in place in 5th gear, ta and dd, at 1500 rpm',s (where it vibrates the worst), and would not vibrate at all. We are going to retorque the wedges where the castings meet the rims and see if that is the problem. If not, what do you see as the problem? The tractor has a roll bar/canopy, factory installed.

Try lower air pressure so the bars of the tire give more cause BFG"s tend to be a harder tire.

I've never owned a 312, but HEY!

That sounds just like a bad vibration dampner; especially so, if it is ALWAYS right at 1500 rpm.

If it don't vibrate in the air and only at 1500 rpm in 5th gear, I'm betting it's the new tires.

Once you get the edge off them new tires it may quit.

We had the same thing happen when we replaced the tires. The ones that made the tractor shake were tires with a long bar and a short bar. Could pull like Hell but shook the living H out of you in road gear.
