Super M Won't Start

Worked on a Super M Saturday and couldn't get it started.Been sitting inside for about a year. It turns good, has fuel but the spark is very weak. I put another coil on it that I know is good still the same. I ran out of time because of some other issues, but I am now going to put new points and a condensor in it and see what happens. Am I on the right track or should I try something else? Thanks ED

Pull the plugs & squirt a little oil in each hole, turn her over a few times with the plugs out to lube up the rings so you get compression & I'll bet she'll take off. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)

That's exactly what I'd do next!

You should be getting a fat, blue spark at the plugs when cranking. You weak spark is most likely from corrosion on the points from sitting (it's happened to me several times...) New points and condensor should take care of that problem.

However I'd also recommend oiling the cylinders as suggested below. That'll help develop good compression until the engine fires and begins oiling itself.

I agree with both guys and what they said. Rings could be sticking and cause low compression and your spark problem most likely is the points need replaced or cleaned

is it 12 volt ?? if so does it have a resistor ?? if it does trying running a by pass wire to the coil and give coil a jolt of FULL 12 volts ,, Dont hook it permanently but while you crank it, bump the wire on the battery and see if it Fires ,I mounted starter switch on mine and while cranking just bump the switch ,,it works good on anything with a resistor .
