lube dripping out

I started my grandfathers 1940 Model H after letting it sit in my yard for 25 years.
It was not ever started in that time.
I drained the old oil and lube and filled everything up with fresh oil and lube
and bush hogged for a while.
After it sat a day, I saw lube dripping out somewhere between the engine and rear axle.
Is there a common problem in this area?
Maybe a lube reservoir filled with water, froze and cracked?
Any ideas?

could be coming from a few spots. rear main seal on the engine, hydraulic belly pump seals (if equipped, input shaft seal on the transmission, or the shaft seal that drives the belly pump. do a search on this site for randy aka neblinc 's link to the photos of his project h. he has some great photos of seal replacements in there.

I spun the engine once or twice a year and put diesel down the exhaust manifold and in the sparkplug holes.

A 60 year old tractor that's been sitting for 25 years will likely need some seals replaced. These tractors are otherwise very sturdy and reliable with no real "common problems" outside normal age and wear.

Best thing to do is try and locate the leak. It may not be a big deal to fix, or it might require splitting the tractor...

I think that sitting that many years and all you have is a minor oil leak is lucky. Probably a flat spot on your rear main oil seal.
