WD-40, ID-40, WK-40

I can't believe I'm about to type this, but I will preface it by stating that I'm not out to flame anybody.

You've come up with enough questions on this and other boards over the last week about production numbers/rarity of more obscure IH tractors than many people know exist, so you're obviously capable of research. All any of us do to asnwer many of these questions is to go to a book, one that you need to get. It's the "International Harvester Tractor Data Book", by Guy Fay and is published by MBI. It's available from external_link and other sources. Mine was $12.95, but I've had it a while.

The questions are not unwelcome. More than once, I've said, "What?" and gone to look it up and find out there there actually was such a beast.

I don't mind learning something new -- I try to do it at least once a day. From your questions I can only assume that you have an interest in learning something about IH tractors, and that's great. You're in a place populated with like-minded pwople. But you already know about the existence of more models than many of the old-timers, and I can't imagine having that level of interest without having built up a little library of reference materials. Guy's Data Book would be a good place to start.

TEN-FER Scott!!!

ive noticed that too but had yet to say anything. hes over on RPM too askin 45 million questions. its not hard to find this stuff out, especially if your sittin in front of a computer.

Scott, I looked in Guy Fay"s tractor data book and there are no production numbers listed for ANY of the 40 series line of tractors. Fay"s book does not even list the crawler tractors. If one goes by the serial number list there were 10099 W40, WK40, WA40 & WD40s made and 349 I40, IA40 IK40 and ID40s.

I think maybe IHStandardMan's dog died or his wife went "deef".

We've seen this stuff before with the naval airman from CA and the guy with the 300U who liked to boil Hy-Tran. All of them asked questions that they already knew the answers to. I don't see why anyone engages them or him. They just come back with more crap. The net effect is they drive good posts to the bottom and off the front page. That's important because most people use the classic view.

Anyone who asks about rarity or market value is suspect. Anybody who wants to replicate a tractor to honor his deceased grandfather would do better going to the graveyard. Anyone who sells his full sized tractor to purchase a lawn tractor is confused. They all need to go to other boards.

I have gotten the IH Data Book by Guy Fay and some trators that I have asked about don't have production #'s. The reason that I ask about the production #'s is because I wonder if anyone has had experience with serial numbers and/or knows anyone who has stockpiled them in his field. I will try not to post any more crap about production #'s in the future.

This is a discussion forum, people has the right to ask questions, for those who don't like the questions we ought to keep our comments to ourselves.when we make derogatory comments about others we show our own ignorance,

I do not have any objection to any question you have asked. You learn by asking. And contrary to what one person stated, not all of the answers come from the books he mentioned. Lots of the information on this board is from memory or not normally available sources. If you want to know, ask.

In all my 77 yrs, I havent listened to anything so blatantly obnoxious. MIKECA is the Naval airman you have denigrated so maliciously. Ive met Mike and another gentleman at the Tulare CTY fair and both are human beings of good nature. If your are going to carp on some ones Questioning abilities, Get all your ducks in the same row. 30 CC
