i was just wondering how the fuel consumption was for a 460 gas i had a 560 gas and thought it was thirsty i have a 560 diesel now and love it does not seem to use near as much gas just wanting opinions i suppose thanks David

A 460 gas should be a little easier on gas than a 560 gas. As far as freezing up, earlier models used a dual venturi, later a single to greatly reduce the freezing. They used to offer a conversion kit for this. Of course, the double was a little more effecient, and that is the reason it froze up easier as it had more complete vaporizatiion in the venturi.Manifold heat riser in good working order is a must. To take the freezing one step farther, we used to build a preheater around the muffler and draw that warmed, dried air into air cleaner for winter chore work. On the older H's etc also. Much the same as autos did with carbureted engines. That being said, you will never approach the economy of the diesel, but getting it started and running is another subject.
