Restoration

I guess you would have to provide more info on that one. How bad was the fire and how long was it in the lake and what was done with it after? Did you push it in the lake to put out the fire or set it on fire trying to dry it off? :)

At some point it becomes like the George Washington cherry tree axe that has been in our family for almost 200 years. Grand dad and his dad had such use of it that they had to replace the handle five times, and the head twice. JimN

Did one and never again . Even when ya think you have EVERYTHING fixed a seal will go out or you will have engine problems or this or that . If one was dumped into a lake now there is a good chance that after you strip her down to the running gear of a kitty did and start from bare casting replace every bearing and totally rebuild everything then it just maybe ok. As for a crispy critter once she has been toasted she is toast.

My JD 720 gasser burnt quite badly, tires, cab and we rebuilt it. Still have the tractor, after 30 years since it burnt I still need a hood to replace the slightly warped one.

I would think all of the cast iron parts would be fine, and the sheet metal would be warped. If you rebuilt the engine and trans/rear end and got new sheet metal I think it would be fine. Iv"e never done it but it think it is a matter of how much you would be will ing to fork out to fix it.
