Transmission Rebuild Manual for Super A

Is there a manual to detail a transmission rebuild (to replace a gear with broken teeth)? I have done a google search but have not been able to find anything specific to transmissions.

www.external_link -- don't know if there is a separate transmission manual or not, rather brief info is in the main service manual. A parts manual would do you almost as much good as it has the diagrams. These are digital copies of the IH manuals. The I&T IH-8 manual will also help.

Hartford: Your not that far from me. I have both the IH blue Ribbon Service manual and IT service manual. Send me an e mail, we can arrange lending these to you.

Which gear is broken?
I"m in the process of rebuilding the tranny on a 130 which is basically the same as the SA. The I&T Manual is very good. I ordered a chassis service manual from Binder, it"s not bad but there are some typo"s. Take pictures before you take things apart. Keep all the gears together on the shaft in order they came out. You will have to punch out a pin on the reverse gear before the main shaft will come out. I had to go into mine because the oiler gear broke.
Waiting now for parts before putting it back together.
Good luck.

Hartford,
Any progress so far?
Just wondering again before I forget, what gear is broken?
I'm assuming it's the oil slinger as it is made of pot metal.

Hi EZ,

I think you are right. It is the gear closest to the rear end on the bottom shaft.

I have a spare transmission which I will diassemble first to retrieve the needed gear.

Hartford,

The dis-assembly will be good practice for when you get to the one you need to repair. The rear split wil be time consuming. You will need some kind of hoist to lift those heavy pieces. I'm just waiting now for an oiler gear, seals and bearings before re-assembly.
Any help I can give, let me know.
