Farmall NF Pedestals: 300 VS. 400

Hello! I was wondering if the 300 and 400 use the same NF pedestal? I know the bolt pattern is the same but did not know if the 400 had a taller pedestal or not. I have a wide front on my 300 with mounting brackets for a 400. I cut them down to fit the 300 but the front end of my 300 is way up in the air. i just bought a 400 so would like to put the wide front on it and go back to a narrow front on the 300. Will have to re-extend the wide front brackets I know.

The NF pedistal flange does not have the same bolt pattern as the M. Some redrill, but it isn't a best solution. (I think they are the same height. JimN

I am pretty sure all the pedestals have the same bolt pattern from the H all th way up to the 560"s. Maybe slightly different but will all match up to each other with some slight boring. My only concern is whether or not the 400 pedestal is 2" taller than the 300"s pedestal as the wide front mounting brackets are.

Bolt patterns are different. H, SH, 300, 350 & 460 same. M, SM, 400, 450, & 560 same. Height should be about the same.

We build IH pulling tractors, & we change front ends around alot. I got to TELL you, 300 & 400 front ends WILL NOT interchange; not even very close...

Just a slight difference in height. If you are refering to the dual wheel narrow front lower bolster, Jim answered it first. Bolt pattern is different on H to 350 compared to 400. also they used 5/8 diametter bolts for mounting and others used 3/4 inch. If you drill a 300 one to fit a 400 the bolt holes will be razor thin on edge of bolster or broke out the edge. 460 used the same 4 bolt mounting pattern at top end as a 560.

Don't know about the height of either, but what size wheel rims do they use? Could you put on smaller rims to lower the tractor front?
Just thinking -maybe wrong.
